1980s festival to return to Bristol – this time to Ashton Court

LOVE them or hate them, the 1980s are making a return next year – to Ashton Court. Following the success of Let’s Rock Bristol at Blaise Castle in June, the 80s music festival has announced it is moving to an even bigger space.

This year’s sell-out event, billed as the biggest 80s festival in the West of England, hosted a string of stars including Billy Ocean. Now the organisers hope to lure more big names for another round of 80s appreciation, this time over a whole weekend.

Organisers said they are excited about the popularity and growth of the event in only its second year.
Steve Haywood, who has been working with organisers on next year’s line-up, told the Bristol Post: “The whole team is thrilled to have managed to take the festival to a weekend event in just our second year.

“It was such a success last time around and we are keen to make it bigger and better.”

Next year’s event is aiming to attract people from across the West with its new camping grounds which will be open from the Friday.

Mr Haywood said that the festival, which attracted around 9,500 people to Blaise Castle last year, is a great showpiece for Bristol.

He said: “It has to be good for the area. A major event like this diverts a lot of attention and money to Bristol.

“The line-up so far is fantastic and a real draw. It is going to be a great spectacle, whether people are into 80s music or not.”

Fans will have the chance to chat with their heroes at a meet-and-greet area where autographs can be obtained.

Once again the festival is being billed as a family-friendly event, with a large free circus, a fun fair including water rides and soft play areas, and children’s entertainers.

Tickets for the festival go on general sale on November 1 and are priced at £39 for an adult day ticket.

There is a range of prices for tickets for children and VIPs, and covering the whole weekend. Visit www.letsrockbristol.co.uk for details.
