Airport Transfer Service to Bovey Castle

Beautiful Devon and Dartmoor

Silverline Cars have a long history of transporting guests to Bovey Castle from all UK airports, although usually Heathrow Airport, Gatwick Airport or Bristol Airport.

Bovey Castle is situated on Dartmoor in the County of Devon, overlooking the River Bovey. It is set in stunning countryside with truly magnificent views on all sides.

Silverline Cars association with Bovey Castle goes back as far as 2005 when we were engaged to transport a large number of corporate guests over a very short period of time. This required about 20 vehicles in all which was a good test of our organizational skills.

Bovey Castle is a grade two listed building, designed for the Viscount Hambledon by Detmar Blow. at times owned by the Great Western Railway and the British Transport Commission. It was bought by the well known entrepreneur Peter De Savary in 2003 who extended the Manor House Hotel and renamed it Bovey Castle in 2006

Mr De Savory sold Bovey Castle to Hilwood Resorts who are the current owners.

History

The house was built in 1907 to designs by Detmar Blow, for the second Viscount Hambleden.

By 1930 it had become a hotel operated by the Great Western Railway, known as the Manor House Hotel. In 1948 it was taken over by the British Transport Commission. It was expanded under new ownership in the 1990s, then purchased and refurbished by the entrepreneur Peter de Savary in 2003 and renamed ‘Bovey Castle’. In 2006 de Savary sold ‘Bovey Castle’ to its present owners, Hilwood Resorts.

Architecture

The main building was built in 1907 in Jacobean style, with a Great Hall into which a floor was inserted in the 1980s. The interior is of high quality, with panelled rooms and elaborately carved features. Extensions were built in the 1930s.[1] The garden front is set above terraces overlooking a lake and the River Bovey.
