Bristol named among UK’s top 10 destinations

 – but we’re beaten by Llandudno

Bristol has been named among the UK’s top 10 destinations.

The city comes tenth – beaten by locations including London, Belfast, and Llandudno.ohn Hirst of Destination Bristol said: “It’s a well-deserved place in the top ten for Bristol, made all the more meaningful because it reflects the experiences of real people coming to our city and having a great time.

“We have a lively programme of festivals and events year-round that really makes Bristol stand out from other cities and hopefully will see us making an appearance in the European and World top ten destinations in the future.

Bristol is such a diverse and vibrant place, from our urban street art and music scene, to an extensive range of high-quality family attractions and wide selection of award-winning places to eat and drink.

“Everyone who visits Bristol can be certain of finding something that they love and want to come back to again and again. The warmth and friendliness of Bristol people also plays a huge part in making visitors feel so at home here.”

Angus Struthers, a spokesperson for TripAdvisor, said: “These awards honour the world’s best destinations as decided by those judges that really matter – travellers themselves. With the choice of so many beautiful destinations in the UK, it’s fantastic that travellers have named Bristol among the UK’s very best.”

On TripAdvisor, the website which ran the awards, Bristol is listed as “a quirky British city with beautiful hilly vistas and plenty of historic sights to explore”.

They say: “Anyone interested in ships will have a blast aboard Brunel’s SS Great Britain, the world’s first great oceanliner, and the Matthew, a replica of the ship upon which John Cabot sailed to America in the 15th century.

“The graceful Clifton Suspension Bridge is another must-see.”

The top destination is London, followed by Manchester and Glasgow.

The next most popular destinations are Liverpool, Belfast, Blackpool, Birmingham, Torquay and Llandudno.

London comes third in the world in the awards – just pipped to the post by Paris and New York City which take first and second place respectively.
