‘The most beautiful village in the Cotswolds’

Bibury is situated on the River Coln in the county of Gloucestershire, the market town of Burford is 9 miles away. Bibury is probably the nearest you will get to the image that most people have of the Cotswolds.

The river Coln passes through the village and is overlooked by Arlington Row. Dating back to the 16th century, this row of ancient cottages beside the water meadow are the quintiscential image of the Cotswolds and as such is used in many photographs of the area.

The image is so iconic that Henry Ford tried, following a visit to buy the cottages and ship them back to Greenfield Village in Michigan, USA.

If Bibury looks familiar to you, it may be because it has been used as a setting in both Stardust and Bridget Jones’s Diary.

The cottages of Arlington Row, built in 1380 as a monastic wool store. Were later, in the 17th century home to the weavers who provided cloth for the nearby Arlington Mill.

There is also a Trout Farm in the village where you can see some stunning gardens.

This is a must see stop on any tour of the Cotswolds.
